How To Use A Charcoal Grill

A charcoal grill is a popular cooking equipment that is used nowadays. It gives a natural flavor of food without an oily feeling which is a usual process of frying. This cooking equipment is used for cooking everything including, beef, seafood and pork. In addition, it consumes less amount of energy as compared to electric appliances. When these things have been collected, the grilling process can be started right away.


The best place to grill is outdoor, away from house, wooden furniture and appliances. Grilling inside is never a good idea inhaling carbon dioxide fumes can be bad for human health. So it is much better to select an outside location instead. However at the same time, one must also watch out for bushes, trees and other things which are vulnerable to fire. The grill should be placed in a vertical surface. Windy places are not good for grilling because it can cause the fire to spread quickly which can get out of control.

The parts of the grill should be checked. Make sure that everything is working properly and all the parts are in place. Similarly, check that the ash kettle and the grill are attached to each other. When the grill is set, the briquettes have to be arranged in pyramid form. There should be enough briquettes to cook everything. About half cup of lighter fluid has to be poured and it should be allowed to soak well in the coal. Crumpled newspapers can also be used as an alternative fire igniter instead of lighter fluid. Additionally, make sure that the vent present at the bottom part of the grill is properly opened.

The Cooking Process

When the briquettes have been lightened, give it about 10 minutes to heat up. When the flames reduce, the coals have to be placed in a single layer so that the heat will be distributed evenly. The unlighted coals should be placed next to the lighted ones to help the fire to spread. Wait for about 20 minutes and check if all the coals are on flame. When the white ash will start covering the coals, it means that the grill is ready for cooking or Bar B Que.

If the temperature level is needed to be checked, simply wave your hand on top of the flame but your hand should be limited to chest level only. If you can hold your hand for about 5 seconds then it means that the heat is not suitable for grilling and it is low. In case you can bear the heat for about a couple of seconds of less then the heat is high. This is suitable for cooking and you can start the grilling.
