Getting started

Now that you have all the requirements It is now time to build a wooden boat, with reference from a site like this. Before you built your wooden boat you need to have a plan. Sketch out the boat you plan to build first

  • The first step is to put a sheet of plywood on top of two sawhorses for that much needed support. The next thing you need to do is transfer the plans on the paper to the plywood using a pencil. Transfer the rest of the plans on the other sheet of plywood.
  • Using a jigsaw you need to cut the sides of your plywood to your desired size, bow the pieces and have about five pieces. Mix your epoxy glue as required and use the paintbrush to apply the glue the sides of the wood, it is easy just like applying paint, let the glue dry for 2hours.

Building the boat

  • It is now time to drill holes on each side of your pieces of wood.1inch apart from the edges of the wood is the best measurement with a space of 4inches.
  • With the plastic ties, stitch the sides, and bow even the bottom. After that you will see that your boat has some plastic ties sticking out.
  • Mix the epoxy glue with saw dust to form a strong paste. Apply the glue to the sides of the boat that is on the inside. The epoxy glue should be done ½ inch deep and two inches wide on along the seams of the center.
  • To build a wooden boat of such a small boat you will not require much. The next step is applying fiberglass fabric along the seams of the boat; this is to make it strong. You need to ensure that the fabric is completely wet with the epoxy glue. For it to be firm and stable you need to let it dry for about eight hours. • Turn the boat and check out for areas that have not been joined properly.
