THINGS YOU’LL NEED:

• Liver function tests
• Blood tests
• Computed Tomography (CT)
• Radionuclide scans
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
• Diflucan (200 mg daily)
• Amphotericin (400 mg daily)
• Lamisil (500 mg daily)
• Antifungal therapy
• Ketoconazole
• Amphotericin B lipid preparations
• Interferon-gamma or GM-CSF

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Decide to undergo a series of laboratory tests to find out if you have yeast infections. Hepatosplenic candidiasis can be diagnosed through liver function tests, white blood count, blood culture, ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), radionuclide scans, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

• Use Diflucan 200 mg everyday and increase the dosage to 400mg depending on when the doctor would say. Add Amphotericin later at 400mg each day. This will cause noticeably positive changes in vitality after three weeks of use.

• Take Lamisil (Terbinafine) 500 mg a day and you may increase the dosage depending on what the doctor says.

• Take liver function tests regularly depending on how often your doctor says you should do it. Liver function tests help assess the effectiveness of the drug being used for therapy.

• Continue therapy until all the symptoms are completely gone and CT or MRI results have normalized.

• Keep treating with antifungal therapy during the whole course of medication

• Ask your doctor about the possibility of using novel approaches to the problem such as using Ketoconazole, new formulations of amphotericin B lipid preparations, or interferon-gamma or GM-CSF.

TIPS:

WARNINGS:

• Ketoconazole may cause liver toxicity.

• Amphotericin B lipid preparations and interferon-gamma or GM-CSF have not been thoroughly studied yet and therefore haven’t reached levels of a standard recommendation.
