Step 1: Power on

The first step that is probably not needed to be even said is of course to switch off power to the vent at your circuit box.

Step 2: Loosen up

Take your stepladder and place it under your vent and then use it to reach your vent so that you can loosen the grill of the vent.  Many vents will be screwed down so you are going to have to take out the screws; make sure you have the vent secured.

Step 3: Locate

You should see your motor of your vent and find the model number and then take your vac and remove all of the dust out of the vent.  You need to make sure that you have cleaned out all of the dust from the vent so that you can get your model number so that you can get a replacement; if you find the right model then that is going to make it much easier to replace it.

Step 4: Blower off

You will need to locate the blower which is near the pipe, you need to remove it.

Step 5: Unplugging

Take out the motor which is going to be found in the electrical socket just inside the vent and simple take it out; sometimes it might be screwed in so if so then you can just unscrew out the screws and then take out the motor.

Step 6: Installation

You need to install the new motor; this is a simple part, you just need to put it back where the old one was and affix it with screws so that it is secure.  Now you can put the blower back into place and then plug the motor in.

Step 7: Power on

Now the last step will be to turn back on your power with your circuit box and make sure that your vent is fine and properly working.  If not then you should see what you have done wrong or if you think you have done everything right consult a professional just in case.

Motor

Now for your motor, it should be checked regularly – not every week of course but around at the end of the month or second month.  You should know that your fan belt is the important part of the floor fan; you don’t want any sort of corrosion present on the motor and it should be avoided if you have kept up your maintenance.  If there is any damage to your motor in any way then you are going to be needing more energy meaning costing you more so keeping the motor running fine as well as you should try to replace the belt of the fan when you start seeing any problems with the fan.

You need to make sure that the motor is not going to be effected by condensation; the rusting process might bring it on quicker.  If you do see any signs that there is any rusting then you should get the parts replaced – whether by the manufacturers or replacing them yourself.  Don’t go out and buy a completely new fan because most of it is probably in working order just one or two minor parts need to be replaced.  That is why you should be trying to keep your floor fan clean and tidy so avoiding any possible damage to it.

What you are going to need;

• Measuring tape
• Screwdriver
• Screws
• Wood
• Saw
• Caulk
• Mesh
• Your first step;

Measuring your window.  Now before you even think about making a screen you are going to have to know the size in which you are going to need the screen to be; you are going to have to measure.  You take your tape and start to measure the area of the window but remember to note the area down; try to do this a few times so you don’t make a mistake.  You are going to need to create your frame so that it is going to fit the window perfectly.

• Your Second Step;

You are going to have to construct the actual frame.  You are going to need a long piece of wood and cut it into the same length vertically and horizontally but you are going to need two of each length so if you measured out thirty inches by fifteen then you are going to have to measure and cut out two thirty inches of wood and then fifteen inches of wood.  Sometimes you are going to need more than one piece of wood but they are easy to pick up though.

When you cut the wood try to make it a little bigger and place them up to the window and make sure you can fit them into the frame of the window until they are tight enough.  Take all of your wood and affix them together; you could do this by screwing them into place that would be the easier option.

• Your third Step;

You are going to have to cut the mesh once you have constructed the frame together.  You should make sure that the mesh is going to be big enough so that it is going to cover the frame.  You should measure it out and make it a little bigger just in case before you cut; place the mesh over the frame and then cut the amount of the mesh you are going to need.  You want the mesh to be a great fitting for your evaporative air cooler.

Take your mesh tool and then place the mesh into the frame and make sure it stays there by using screws.

• Your fourth Step;

You are going to need to fit the frame; this is simple, pick up your frame and push it right into the window frame as much as you can and then put the mesh over your evaporative air cooler.  You can put it into the frame by using some screws to securely place it; take your caulk and outline all around the edge of the screen.

• Your fifth and last step;

Your screen for the evaporative air cooler should be easy to do; you take the previous steps but taking the lengths shorter than before.  You should take the length of the air cooler and work from that.  It could mean that you don’t get any cold air or drafts into your home.

When you have some problems in your bathroom then you might need to get yourself a bathroom vent but these bathroom roof vents can get a lot of problems with them if they don’t work properly meaning your bathrooms could go back to the state that they were in before you got the unit installed.

What you are going to need;

• Ladder
• Paper and pen
• Screwdriver
• Vacuum
• Mostly importantly your new motor

A lot of the times you are going to have to take out your old motor and put in a new one when your unit doesn’t work properly or at all anymore.  You don’t need to worry however this can be done simply without having to worry a lot so you just need your tools and you can start.

You need to turn your electricity off which runs through to your vent and once you have then you can take off your vent cover to get to the actual inside of the unit.

You might have to clean out the unit so take a vacuum cleaner; one which is portable or hand held and small but can still clean out the unit properly.  You need to clean out so that you can locate your number on the motor which is your model number; you could write the number down now so that you can go out and get your new replacement.

Firstly take out your plug to the motor and also your plate; you will find that you will have a wheel blower which needs to be removed so that you can get your motor out.  Be careful when you remove your motor which should have a screw or bolt keeping it in place.  Don’t worry if you break the blower you could replace these easily.

You might have to replace your old motor so you need to get the old one removed so that you can get the actual replacement.  You are going to need one which is the same as the old motor so that it is going to work in your unit; you could take down the make or model number or take the motor out and take it with you to get a new one which shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Your last step will be to start your installation process; now this is going to have to be done by removing your motor from the unit.  Now you can do this simply, the unit is going to be attached with some screws and possibly a nut also so you are going to have to remove these and remove your motor from the blower wheel.

Now you can replace the old one with a new one making sure that you attach this also to your blower wheel and then putting it securely into place with the screw and the nuts also.

You can test the fan to see how well it works and if it didn’t recheck your motor is in the right place and test out your bathroom roof vent.
