Many of us have some sort of centrifugal extractor fan in our homes but to keep them in working order then you are going to have to make sure that they are in perfect working order.  If you know how to keep the fan clean then you can have your fan for longer and keep it working perfectly.

Your first step is not really something that should need to be said but for your safety of course remember when you are working with electricity to turn off all power

When it comes to working with electricity then you should remember that you have to take safety in account and switch off the power to your centrifugal extractor fans.

• Lubrication of Bearings

With a centrifugal extractor fan, the blades help remove the air in the room but to keep it working you are going to need to keep on oiling the bearing and of course keeping the blades very clean.  There will usually be a label on your blades as to how you are supposed to be keeping your unit clean as well as being safe when you return power to the unit.  The label should be information saying when they should be cleaned and how often oil should be applied to the unit.

A lot of older fans don’t have self oiling bearings meaning you are going to have to do it from hand but if you have a newer model then you might have to get a replacement.

• Cleaning the Blades

When you are cleaning your fan blades then they can be quite dangerous if you have not done this properly.  Most of your blades are going to be a little curved which will mean that your blade will probably be prone to getting more dirt attached to them that is why you need to make sure you clean them properly otherwise you are going to have a lot of problems when it comes to your fan.

You should be cleaning the blades regularly in fact but it won’t take you an hour but you have to be careful.  You should be cleaning each of the blades separately and thoroughly; many of the fans today will allow you to take out the blades completely giving them a more thorough clean.  It shouldn’t take that long to clean the blades but it is a good idea to clean regularly and properly, even if you get your unit checked out every year or so or six months just so you know that you are cleaning it right and there is no problems.

• Reassemble Unit

This last part to finish off the cleaning procedure will be to reassemble the unit back together again.  All parts have to be returned to their original state in the fan; so before your blades can go back, everything else has to be put back into position.  Your fan blades will then go into place and make sure they are securely in their position.

Step 1: Turn Off the Electricity

You need to find your circuit breaker so that you can turn off the power for the extractor fan; this should be done first so that you keep yourself safe when you are working with the fan.

Step 2: Remove the Cover

A lot of the extractor fans are going to have a cover or casing of some kind which is usually there to help protect the fan parts inside.  Get a ladder if you cannot reach it and start to remove the cover – many have been put into place with screws so you are going to need to remove them; remove the cover and into the bucket of water and put the screws onto masking tape.  Put your screws into the bucket when you have folded up your screws in the masking tape.

Step 3: Locate the Exhaust Fan Blade

You should locate your extractor fan and try to see inside it to your blade; you need to take out the blade completely so if it has been clipped into place then you need to take them off and place them into the bucket attached to masking tape.

Step 4: Clean the Vent Cover

You should get another bucket and get a mixture of soap and some hot water into the bucket and then once you have the mixture then you will need to take your vent cover and place it into the bucket and make sure it is completely soaked.  Take a cloth to make sure you wipe clean the dirt from the vent cover; once you have cleaned your vent cover then you remove it from your water and dry it with a cloth that is not going to be tough on the vent either.

Step 5: Clean the Fan Blades

To clean the fan blades then you should take a cloth and get some window cleaner onto the cloth and then try to clean up the blades of the fan.  You should also try to put some anti-bacterial spray on your blades so that you can prevent the buildup of any bacteria on your blade.  Make sure that you have dried the blades before you reinstall the fans.

Step 6: Re-Install Unit

You are going to need to reinstall your unit back into its rightful place.

Step 7: Turn on Electricity

The last part is easy, you just need to switch your electricity back on by putting your circuit breaker back on and there you have it, you’ve cleaned your bathroom extractor fan simple and quickly.

Now when it comes to décor in our homes it can be difficult to keep them clean and still gleaming looking after a few weeks of having the décor laid.  The problem is that many of us paint and wall paper our homes without thinking if that is the right solution for us, have we even got the right paint and the right kind of wall paper.  If not then we could have to do a lot of redecorating especially if you have a young family – that is when you having the wrong sort of paint or wall paper is going to be a nightmare.  You are going to be doing a lot of redecorating because the décor isn’t child friendly or childproofed.

If you do find that you have some spills on the wall – chocolate or soup then it could be best to try to wash it off as soon as you can; you can do this easily by taking some hot soapy water with some cleaning products added to the water to make it easier to remove.  To wash it off then it will be simple to do so, take a wet cloth with your mixture on it and wipe off the chocolate, soup or anything else that you have on the walls.  You should know that once the food has been removed then your walls will be or should be the same as they were when they were painted.

Step 3: Protect Against Spills

If you haven’t got washable paint all throughout the house then you should try to make sure that the kids play in their rooms with their crayons or when eating just get them to eat in the kitchen so that if there are any spills then it will be just in one place.  You can clean the walls easily and if you have carpets then they can be washed easily without taking too long; you just need to wash it in a washing machine for an hour and your carpets are back to normal.

Getting slipcovers for your sofas are probably the best thing to get, they can be easily washed.

Step 4: Keep Valuables Out of Kids’ Reach

Now this is going to be the tough part, getting your kids to respect their homes; since they are young they sometimes don’t understand the concept of what it means to keep everything clean and tidy.  You can start to teach the kids this by getting them to help you around the house, even if it is just to help clear away dishes.

It should be wise that if you have smaller children then keeping them out of reach of them is something you should think of.  It is also wise to keep the electrical wiring out of reach or in protective coverings like coils that hideaway the wires and keeps everyone safe.

If you do have a truck then you probably know to hang your truck brake rotors but if your truck has some sort of anti-lock brakes then you are going to need to know how to change your truck brake rotors  but it isn’t something to worry about its easy to do.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED;

• Rags
• Cleaning alcohol
• Wrench
• Jack
• Truck brake rotors

Your first step will be to park your truck in your garage or in an open area which can be safe for you to work as well as being on level and even ground also.  You are going to need to elevate the truck up to start your work so you are going to need your jack at the use to elevate the truck.

You are going to need to locate your wheel and then loosen your wheel lugs but remember that the truck should remained very supportive, that the jack has to remain in position and steady of course.

Your second step will be to disassemble each part of the car; only for the parts which are preventing you getting to the rotor itself.  You are going to know which parts you are going to take out so you could reach your truck brake rotor; you might need a wrench to remove some of the parts in the car.

Your third step will be to remove the rotor; if you have removed all of the cars parts then you should find your rotor.  You will have to remove the brake caliper and other things to get to your rotors however.  Be careful when you are removing all of the parts however because you don’t want to hurt yourself; you don’t want to keep the parts out in the sun or on the ground, you should try to store them in a cool, dry place which won’t get any dirt on them.  Getting dirt on your wheel bearings may lead to contamination and if they do get contaminated then you might have to replace the wheel bearings.

Your fourth step is going to be cleaning and matting your surface of your car.  You will need to clean your car; get rid of any dirt or dust that has found its way into your car should be vital because you are going to have to think about the parts of the car.  You need your rotor to work properly but it might not if there is a collection of dirt and dust in your car, it is the same with your brakes, if you don’t regularly check and keep the brakes clean then you might find they don’t work as how they should.

Your fifth step will be to install your new rotor; now to install your new rotor is actually quite easy once you know how to do it.  You just need to take out the old rotor from your car and then replace with the new rotor.  The only problem that you might have is remembering where the other parts go when you are trying to put them back in so even taking down a note or two as to which order and where they go could help you.

Your sixth steps is going to put everything back to where it was originally; now you are going to have to put your wheel back into its place and then your wheel lugs also.  Remember you have to be sure that your wheel lugs are tight enough so that they don’t fly off when you drive your car; so checking that they are in securely in is best before you test drive your car.

Your seventh step is to test drive your brakes; you really do want to take your truck out for a test drive so that you can be sure that your brakes are perfectly working but remember try to do this in open country and not on any of the busy roads.

Your eighth step is going to be your rear truck brake rotor; if you do need to change your rear rotor then you are going to really do the same as the front procedure.  This too is a simple procedure to follow however so you don’t need to get a professional in because you now know how to do it yourself.

Your ninth step is going to be to make sure of everything that you have done so far, making sure that you have jacked the car up properly and that everything is secure enough when you are placing the old parts.

The tenth step will be to look over all of your parts in the truck; you need to make sure that everything is in good working order and that nothing has began to rust.  Checking on the brake pads is a good idea to do just to make sure that you are going to need to change any of the parts.

The eleventh step you should try will be to test drive your truck; now make sure you have done all of your cleaning first though and have taken out all old part and put the new parts in before you take it out for a drive.  This will be done so that you know that everything is working and in good working order also.

Your final step isn’t really a step but rather just a good tip to try when it comes to your truck; you should get some alcohol when it comes to cleaning your new rotor, it would be the best thing to do before you install your new rotor.

A popular choice for many people’s homes are not the usual air conditioning systems, not even some fans like home fans or even desk or floor fans.  Everyone is going to have their own choices when it comes to choosing an air conditioning system so many might want to use a floor fan and some might want to use just a small desk fan but one which is becoming quite popular in many homes is the Oscillating fan.  These are quite useful to have around the home, to keep these clean and working properly is another matter however.

There a few things that you are going to need to do to keep your Oscillating fan working properly; so changing the blades on the fan is something that should be done but you don’t need to worry it is not a very hard task to do.  If you know what you’re doing then it can be a very easy task that you will need to do; in fact you could probably do this with your eyes closed after you’ve done it the first time.

To change the blade of the Oscillating fan you will need to open the grille over the fan firstly; this should be done easily – sometimes it will just pop off or sometimes it could be screwed down so whichever one it is easy to remove the grille anyway.  You should remove all of the dust from the fan meaning you are going to have to clean each part of the fan properly as well as removing the blade so that you could replace them.  A lot of people won’t know how to do this at first though which is understandably though so read on and you could find a few simple instructions.

The first step that you should take is to unplug your fan, now that should be something that doesn’t need to be said but a lot still don’t think about it sometimes so unplugging the fan is crucial.  You should then take the grille from the Oscillating fan which will usually be made from wire so it will be easy to remove.  You will find your motor and the fan blades also; a clip or some screws will be holding the parts together of the grille.

Your blades are going to be attached to the centre of the fan and you will probably find a screw on cap that keeps all this together and attached.  You will need to take the cap off and then you are going to be able to remove the blades which are going to be replaced and replace them.

You should get a cloth, damp usually but not soaking wet and wipe down each part of the fan; clean the wire grille, blades, motor so that you can remove all of the dust from them.  When you have got your new blade then make sure that it is dust free but you should note that for your oscillating blade is going to be curved but towards the front of the blade.  Now you are going to be able to replace the blades into the fan itself and put the cap back on making sure that it is tight and secure.  Put your grille back on the front of the fan and there you have it, your fan is like new again.
