Tanning is a natural process to which we all are familiar. It is the process in which the skin secretes dark brown colored pigments called melanin which makes the skin to look darker. This happens due to sun naturally. But today in some countries people follow a kind of trend to get tanned by taking sun bath. Some like this tanned look whereas others just want to get rid of this tan as they want to look lighter in complexion and find it more beautiful. Overexposure to sun causes this effect and can even cause sunburns. This makes skin red brown in color and excessive dryness can cause peeling off the skin.  Those who wanted to get rid of this, here are some very simple tips which help a lot to get lighter complexion and protect your skin from getting tanned.

  • Apply sun block to your skin in the form of lotions or sunscreen of very high SPF (sun protection factor) content as it prevents your skin from getting more tanned. You should apply it 15 -20 minutes before going out in sun so that the skin can absorb it properly. You should reapply the sunscreen after toweling off or after swimming. Reapply it even after excessive sweating.
  • You should avoid going out in between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm as the sun is hottest during this period. Hence causes over production of melanin.

  • You can use the mixture of lemon juice, glycerin and sugar also at the infected parts of the skin in case of severe tanning.
  • You can also apply the mixture of one tablespoon of lemon juice and raw potato juice to get rid of the tanned skin. After application leave it for 15 minutes and then wash with cold water with proper rinsing. Use the method once in a day until you get rid of it.
  • Rub the peeling of potato or papaya to the infected part and leave it for sometime. For fast action and better result you can use raw potato juice as a sun block.
  • For sensitive skin, hypoallergenic sun screen is recommended.
  • Body should be covered properly to prevent tanning. Wear clothes with full sleeves and hat or cap so that you can protect your arms as well as your face from getting tanned. You should wear full pants to protect your legs.
  • Not only your body but also your lips suffer with the same thing, so it is recommended to use lip moisturizer with sun protecting factor. It helps you to prevent your lips from the scorching sun.
  • One of the easiest remedy is, mash some leaves of Aloe Vera plant and add one tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply it on the infected part to clear and nourish the skin.
  • Apply the mixture of three tablespoon of milk and one tablespoon of turmeric powder over the infected area. Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. It is one of the effective remedy and can even help you to remove facial hairs.
