How to Build a Strawberry Planter

  1. Find an area where you want to create your box and then measure it. Strawberries love the sun so make sure that the spot you choose gets a lot of sunshine.
  2. It is advisable to build the box against a shed or outside wall. This way, it won’t take a lot of space in the yard.
  3. The side of the box should be made of wide boards. The size of your planks should be either 4×8 or 4×6.
  4. Make sure that the size of your planks match the length of your area. To save time, put into consideration that your planks should be as long as the box.
  5. Posts measuring 4×4 should be positioned in each corner of your box. The posts should be cut according to your desired height of the box. It should be high enough to make strawberry picking and weeding easier.
  6. A good size box is 3 feet wide, 6 feet long and 3 feet deep. The planks should be nailed into the corner posts measuring 3 or 4 high based on the height of your box. A good box should measure 3 feet deep, 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. This way, there would be a lot of room for the strawberries to spread.
  7. To keep the dirt from washing over the sides when it rains and to create a beautiful rim and edge, the planks should be laid flat, joining each of the corners and fixing box crown.

You can also use a strawberry bag as a strawberry planter. It is a bag with multiple slits which allows the plants to grow in. When using this though, excessive heat should be watched out because it can cook the roots inside the bag thus killing the strawberry plant.
